As our airplane left Atlanta for Austin, a single concern scolded me: ““ How are we going to maximize this for the trainees?” ” Our goal was to play a part in the HBCU@SXSW program, which intends to ““ diversify the entrepreneurship, development and financial investment environment for all…… by bringing the most intelligent and brightest minority university student to SXSW.” ” And to be entirely sincere with you, that felt like a challenging, insane, enthusiastic thing—– one I was thrilled about, for sure, however likewise distressed about.

Bringing 150 HBCU (Historically Black Universities and colleges) trainees to among the world’s biggest conferences is a big effort that needs commitment, accuracy, and vision. Luckily, Atlanta’’ s Opportunity Hub , whose objective is to construct inclusive development, entrepreneurship, and financial investment communities for all, showed those attributes and more to make a weekend that many individuals will keep in mind for a life time.

We dumped the sales pitch completely, rather sitting with the trainees and providing insight into our individual battles, aspirations, and successes. We shared stories that highlighted why small companies were so crucial to MailChimp. And we drew parallels in between the battles of those organisations and the trainees’ ’ has a hard time as underestimated, underrepresented, and marginalized individuals.

All informed, we’’d invested 3 days at SXSW with the trainees.
